Flowers and Thoughts – looking back and forward

A Happy, Happy New Year to one and all! Hope everyone had a joyful holiday time with lots of family, food and fun and are feeling relaxed, refreshed and energised for a successful 2017.  It was the first year ever that we hosted a family Christmas and so, whilst I’m used to having a few flower leftovers, this festive season I spoilt myself and created a fireplace garland and Christmas table centre piece – Joyeux Noel to me!  Eucalyptus and Mimosa paired with Gossypium (that’s cotton wool!), Hypericum Berries, copper sprayed Ruscus and Ferns with soft cream candles were the perfect flower partners for the white honeycomb balls that I hung from the staircase and bronze twigs in slim white vases dotted around, just dreamy! And then we went to sunny Spain, and that was pretty cool too.

But enough of Christmas already!  I’m looking forward to 2017, marking 5 years since I began this magical flower filled journey.  From my first nerve wracking wedding at the coolest of venues, Shoreditch House.  I had my new baby strapped to me while I prepared the flowers and my lovely hubby was sweeping up around us! More exciting venues followed – London Zoo, St Johns Wood Church, Nonsuch Mansion, St Lukes LSO, The Electric House and more.  And big clients too, creating beautiful arrangements for Royal Wedding Designer Nicki MacFarlane was a hugely proud moment as well as for the hottest brand for Bridesmaids, Maids to Measure.  Shortly afterwards Iris and Blue was not only named Stand Out Florist by the Editor of Conde Nast Brides magazine, but one of my bouquets was then featured on the cover (THE COVER!).  Last year, I dressed amazing venues such as Dodford Manor, Islington Town Hall, St Stephen’s Trust Hampstead and the Covent Garden Hotel.  My flowers appeared on the very finest of Wedding Blogs ‘Rock My Wedding’ (YAY!) and finally I now have my very own studio from which to create beautiful flowers for the stylish peeps of North London and beyond. Yes it has been an exciting, sometimes scary, but always wonderful and truly rewarding, blast. Playing a small part in the some of the most pivotal moments in the lives of both friends and strangers – helping to celebrate weddings, anniversaries, new babies, christenings, Bar Mitzvahs and much, much more has been truly humbling.  And now, I’m seriously looking forward to the next 5 years. Yep, this petite florist in this diddy studio is planning some BIG flower stuff.  More amazing events in London and beyond, a bespoke weekly flower delivery service and charity affiliation, being featured in more aspirational media titles, Open Studio Days, Workshops for Adults and Children and an online Shop…..do keep on watching and supporting, I really really appreciate the flower love. x
